Colquitt County Jail nurse facing drug charges

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a Colquitt County Jail nurse is now facing drug charges.

On Friday, December 18, 2015, the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from GBI’s Sylvester Regional Office to investigate allegations that drugs were being smuggled into the Colquitt County jail by a nurse, Jennifer Sanchez, age 33. Sanchez is employed with the Colquitt Regional Hospital and serves as nurse at the jail. A K-9 alerted on her vehicle while she was working at the jail. A search of Sanchez’s vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine (ice), marijuana, tobacco, rolling papers, cigarette lighters and saran wrap.

GBI agents secured criminal arrest warrants charging Sanchez with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, and Bringing within Guard Lines Drugs and Other Prohibited Articles. Sanchez was booked into the Colquitt County jail.
